Frederic Franklin: An Early Memoir of the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and His Career

Posted by 1 hours ago (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FNBZLJF3/)

Description: Frederic Franklin - a name to conjure with, a ballet god! Together with his most famous partner, Alexandra Danilova, Freddie danced into ballet history with his legendary tenure at the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo In this book cover here, part of the charm and myth of Freddie Franklin are captured in the monumental photos by George Platt Lynes (back cover) and Richard Avedon (front cover). A member of the National Museum of Dance's Hall of Fame, Frederic Franklin was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004. Freddie began early with Anton Dolin and Alicia Markova but went on to have many ballets created for him by Léonide Massine, so beautifully featured in The Red Shoes with Moira Shearer (who Freddie danced with later in his career), as well as working shoulder to shoulder with George Balanchine, both as a dancer and a choreographer. In the beginning of his career, he worked in London and Paris with many legends including Josephine Baker, Mistinguett, Stanley Holloway and many members of Diaghilev's original Ballets Russes. In the hallowed halls of New York ballet, as well as all over the Eastern seaboard, the kind and generous Freddie Franklin is still also remembered as an inspiration and mentor to several new generations of worldclass dancers.
